SLENDER LADY ROSE-chasing fat sweet & sour tea (Roselle)
Scientific name : Hibiscus sabdariffa Linn.

Botanical Description : The plant is an erect annual herb with reddish cylindrical stem. Leaves are simple having petiole. Flowers are solitary, axillary, 5-7 cm. diameter. Fruits is capsule, ovoid, pointed, 1-2 cm.long, having densely sharp and still hairs.
Ethnomedical Uses : the claimed efficacies of the fruits are for the alleviation of thirst , for gastric ulcers, hypercholeslterolemia. Roselle is commonly cultivated in warm countries. A decoction of its calyces has been used as food dyes and beverages. In Thai traditional medicine, roselle is used for the treatment of various diseases and disorders including hypertension, hyperlipidemea, bladder stone and gastric ulceration. It was demonstrated that roselle can be used as an antispasmodic drink and antihypertensive as well as anthelmintic in taeniasis and anti-bacterial agent. An aqueous extract of roselle was reported to be an effective diuretic in patients with urologic disorders.
